Additional information

Chalet Sonnleitn has a lovely warm and friendly home from home atmosphere with all the right ingredients for the perfect Alpine getaway.

Now in their 5th season, chalet owners Craig and Katharine pride themselves on their warm welcome, delicious home cooked food and good value, high quality accommodation which is why guests keep returning year after year.

The accommodation and facilities are suitable for everyone - kids are well catered for with a games room, PS2, table tennis and table football while adults can rest in the knowledge that their holiday has been taken care of.

The chalet has a choice of spacious and tastefully decorated rooms and caters for large sole occupancy groups as well as smaller groups, families and individual holidaymakers wishing to enjoy their winter break in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere that Chalet Sonnleitn has become renowned for.

Chalet Board includes a hearty Austrian breakfast buffet providing the perfect kick-start to the day and this is served in the sunny lounge/dining room which opens out onto the large sun terrace with its lovely piste and mountain views.

After an exhilarating day on the slopes and perhaps a few schnapps in the apres ski huts, guests can look forward to a selection of freshly made cakes, tea, coffee, hot chocolate or Gluhwein.

Evening meal is served in the chalet's newly renovated Austrian style lounge/dining room which is cosy and candlelit at night - making it the perfect place to unwind with a drink or two after a delicious home cooked four course evening meal with complimentary wine. Special diets are catered for and a separate early tea menu is available for the children.

Katharine cooks all the meals herself using fresh and local ingredients. The menu is varied and includes warming, wholesome soups, locally inspired dishes, a varied and plentiful salad buffet and scrumptious home made desserts.

There is also a cosy separate lounge with comfortable leather sofas, floor cushions and bean bags and a tv that guests can chill out in, play board games, choose a book from our small library or listen to music.

Other facilities include a sauna, use of sledges which can be used on a fully groomed sledging slope just 50m away, wi-fi internet, laundry room and sun terrace with wooden tables and chairs.

The chalet is in a charming village just a short bus ride to the slopes of Nassfeld Ski Arena - the free shuttle bus stop is just 50m from the front door. The train station is only 200m away with regular trains to the nearby town of Hermagor and the city of Villach.

Notes on pricings

Typically the pricing for "sole use" chalets are quoted based on the cost of renting the whole chalet, whilst large ski chalets that are not for sole use will usually quote their prices per person, based on 2 people sharing a room. Please note that whilst every effort has been made to accurately display the owners rental rates, mistakes do happen, and rates can be subject to change by the owner. Therefore these rates should be taken as a guide only. Final costing should be agreed and confirmed with the chalet owners direct.

Getting There

There are various car hire companies in every airport. We have found that www.auto-europe.co.uk offers the best deal. This is by far the best way to get around  as there is so many things to see and do that are spread around the region.

By Road

Jenig is on the B111 2km from Tropolach. The A2 Autobahn leads onto the B111 (signposted Hermagor). Obviously, the directions depend on which airport you choose to fly into. For a detailed route map, visitwww.viamichelin.co.uk

It is possible to catch a train to Jenig. The main transport hub of Carinthia is Villach from where there is a regular daily service. We are only 200 meters from the train station in Jenig. For more information visitwww.oebb.at

There are several airports that can be used, one of which Klagenfurt. This the closest. Trieste, Ljubljana, Venice, Salzburg or Graz are also within easy reach www.ryanair.comwww.easyjet.com,www.thomsonfly.com and www.ba.com have the best fares.
