Additional information

Chalet la Ruche can accommodate either one large group or several smaller groups looking for a sociable skiing holiday. The chalet has a fantastic layout over three floors and loads of living space to accommodate all 16 guests. The warm and roomy entrance hall has room for everyone's ski and board equipment to be stored.

The chalet has a great location amongst trees in the pretty wooded village of Plagne 1800. At the back of the chalet is a track that leads you, after a few minutes' walk (about 250m), to a blue piste (Loup Garou). From the bottom of this run you can take the new (for 09/10) Melezes and then Bergerie chairlifts that drop you above Plagne Villages, or take the 1800 chair that drops you just below Aime 2000 - basically you're in the heart of the ski area. At the end of the day you can ski back down the blue run and walk along the track back to the chalet. If you're not ready for blue runs (or don't fancy the walk) you can leave your hired equipment at our ski shop in Plagne Centre and catch the regular (and free) public bus that stops 50m from the chalet.

The chalet has recently been decorated but retains its traditional chalet features including a large open-plan dining and lounge area with log fire and plenty of comfy sofas to accommodate all sixteen guests. There is an honesty bar that stocks beers, soft drinks & snacks, loads of books and DVDs (including plenty for the kids) and a few games to keep you entertained. A large balcony provides stunning views across the valley and there is plenty of outside space for the kids to play in the snow.

Notes on pricings

Typically the pricing for "sole use" chalets are quoted based on the cost of renting the whole chalet, whilst large ski chalets that are not for sole use will usually quote their prices per person, based on 2 people sharing a room. Please note that whilst every effort has been made to accurately display the owners rental rates, mistakes do happen, and rates can be subject to change by the owner. Therefore these rates should be taken as a guide only. Final costing should be agreed and confirmed with the chalet owners direct.

Getting There

Driving to the Alps could be cheaper than you think! With four of you in the car your fuel costs from the French port of Calais will be around £25 per person each way.

P&O and SeaFrance provide ferry crossings from Dover to Calais and Norfolkline provides
ferry crossings from Dover to Dunkerque. It’s about a 9-hour drive from both Calais and Dunkerque to La Plagne. There are free public car-parks very close to each of our chalets in La Plagne 1800.

The ultra-handy Eurostar goes from London straight to the Alps. We provide free transfers in our minibuses to La Plagne from the train stations of Aime or Bourg St Maurice. Journey times from Aime to La Plagne - 30 mins. Journey times from Bourg st. Maurice to La Plagne - 45mins.

We provide free airport transfers in our minibus from: Chambery (1.5 hours from La Plagne); Grenoble, Lyon or Geneva (each about 2.5 hours) (all times are for normal traffic conditions).

Free airport transfers are subject to availability so please check with us before you book your flights and aim to arrive in the afternoon (between 2pm and 5pm) and depart the following week in the early afternoon (between 1pm and 3pm).

There is a free carpark close to the chalet
