Typically the pricing for "sole use" chalets are quoted based on the cost of renting the whole chalet, whilst large ski chalets that are not for sole use will usually quote their prices per person, based on 2 people sharing a room. Please note that whilst every effort has been made to accurately display the owners rental rates, mistakes do happen, and rates can be subject to change by the owner. Therefore these rates should be taken as a guide only. Final costing should be agreed and confirmed with the chalet owners direct.
Many people choose to drive to the Alps. French motorways are quiet, well maintained and routes are easy to follow. The journey takes around 8 hours from Calais.
Simply follow the signs from Calais to Reims, Troyes, Dijon, Lyon, Chambery, Albertville, Moûtiers, St Martin De Bellville. Alternatively head towards Geneva and turn of the motorway at the first Annecy sign and then head for Albertville. All self-drive customers will receive directions and a local area map to ensure the journey door to door is as straight forward as possible.
The Channel Tunnel is the quickest way, though not the cheapest – always book in advance and look for a deal. Prices can be as low as £99 for an off-peak return of up to 5 days. If you just turn up and drive on, a return fare of over 5 days it can be well over £250. Please see www.eurotunnel.com for more info.
Ferries: The advantage of ferries of course is the chance to get out of your car, do some shopping and visit one of the restaurants on board – you’ll need to stop to eat somewhere on your journey anyway. For details of routes from the UK see www.directferries.co.uk
For hassle free travel take the Euro star or SNCF Ski Train to the French Alps. The trains travel overnight, departing on a Friday evening and arriving at Moutiers early on Saturday morning – just a 20 minute transfer from the chalet. The return train leaves the following Saturday evening, leaving you to enjoy the extra benefit of a full 8 days on the slopes.
Eurostar – Direct from Waterloo or Ashford to Moutiers, offering a reclining seat service. Prices from £179 return.
RailEurope – Direct from Waterloo or Asford to Paris, and then change onto the Raileurope train for a couchette service direct to Moutiers. There is also a disco on board. Price from £219 Return.
