Additional information

This traditional and charming chalet has been lovingly restored to a fine example of what the Meribel valley has to offer. With its kit store with heated boot rack, en-suite facilities, inviting hot tub and secluded terrace plus the option to ski to door (snow conditions permitting); it is the perfect place to spend a relaxing week.

Situated in a quiet corner of the Meribel valley in the idyllic hamlet of Chandon, the location of this chalet is quite special offering unrivalled skiing during the day and panoramic views of Saulire Mountain from the hot tub by night. Plus at only 6 mins away from the centre of Meribel Chalet Ballenberg is still close enough to the action for those that like to party into the small hours.

The chalet offers wonderfully comfortable accommodation for up to 14 people across 6 bedrooms. There is a spacious open plan living and dining area with a huge open fire and French doors that open onto a fantastic balcony and terrace. Plus the chalet is equipped with all your creature comforts - a large flatscreen TV with sky channels, a DVD player, Nintendo Wii, IPOD speakers and a large selection of DVD's, books and games.

The chalet is linked to the centre of the resort by our hosts who offer a shuttle service to and from the slopes/town during your stay in our private minibus. There is also the added option of the regular free resort shuttle bus that stops within 100m of the chalet and for those who are keen it is possible to ski back to the chalet, (snow conditions permitting). You really are spoilt for choice with access to the chalet and resort. Being only 6 minutes from the chalet door to the slopes, shops and bars in Le Chaudanne (Meribel centre), Chalet Ballenberg offers easy access to all Meribel has to offer whilst being situated in an authentic and peaceful French hamlet.

Notes on pricings

Typically the pricing for "sole use" chalets are quoted based on the cost of renting the whole chalet, whilst large ski chalets that are not for sole use will usually quote their prices per person, based on 2 people sharing a room. Please note that whilst every effort has been made to accurately display the owners rental rates, mistakes do happen, and rates can be subject to change by the owner. Therefore these rates should be taken as a guide only. Final costing should be agreed and confirmed with the chalet owners direct.

Getting There

Travelling by car to the Alps can often be the most convenient and economical way for groups and families. Meribel is approximately 600 miles from the ferry port of Calais and you can travel almost all of the way by motorway or express dual carriageway. The tolls cost around 65 Euros each way and free public car parking is available at or very close to our chalets for the full duration of your stay. If you would prefer undercover car parking there are a number of car parks in Meribel centre that cost approximately 43 Euros for a 7-night stay.

If you do choose to travel by car we recommend that you use a route planner such aswww.viamichelin.co.uk for directions. On this site you can enter the post code for your destination (enter “73550”) and it will then give you various options. Guests staying in Chalet Ballenberg should select “Savoie: Chandon” and guests staying in Chalet St Joseph should select “Savoie: Les Allues”. The better route is via Reims rather than Paris.

It is also possible to get detailed maps of the area.

Chalet St Joseph is located on the western side of Route Saint Joseph in Les Allues, just past its junction with Place du Four and Route du Pre de la Coeur.

Chalet Ballenberg is situated just off the local road that travels directly through Chandon. Take the right hand turn at the bus stop / second water trough, head up the street and Chalet Ballenberg is the last property on your left.

Remember that it is a legal requirement in France to fit adaptors to your car headlights so that you don’t dazzle oncoming traffic. You must also place a GB (or relevant country) sticker on the back of your vehicle if your number plate doesn't already indicate the nationality of the car. It is also recommended to carry a warning triangle and spare bulbs with you.
